Rabbi Akiva and Rachel: Two Models of Relationship
Traditionally, Lag Ba’Omer is a celebration of the fact that Rabbi Akiva’s students stopped dying on this day. In this shiur, we’ll explore and unpack a talmudic tale, in two contradictory versions, that sheds a new light upon this shepherd-turned-sage, his incredible wife, and what they can teach us all about relationships. Along the way we’ll meet those students, and ponder why they were dying in the first place.
